Hex nut with a nylon-filled collar. When a screw reaches the collar, the threads and nylon form a tight, frictional fit, restricting movement of the screw when it is subjected to vibration.

Type 316 Stainless Steel provides additional corrosion resistance against atmospheric conditions, moisture, salt, and other extremes of weather. Often used in marine applications. It may also prevent galling when tightened onto an 18-8 stainless steel fastener.
