Our PAINTED BLACK Structural Star Building Retaining Washers are domestically manufactured in the USA. Often referred to as seismic earthquake washers, they are used as anchor plates or wall washers that are connected to a tie rod or bolt on exterior walls of masonry buildings for structural reinforcement. They are available with a five or six point star designs in cast ductile hot galvanized or may be custom-ordered in aluminum or bronze.
The Quatrefoil is a symmetrical design made of four partially overlapping circular lobes that resemble a four-leaf clover, and some people view it as a sign of good fortune, faith, hope and love.
In churches, the four lobes often represent the four Gospel writers (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John).
The shape appeared on pottery and seals in ancient Mesopotamia and early Islamic art long before the Middle Ages. It also became very famous during the Gothic and Renaissance periods in European architecture.
